#EstradaAndMelTieTheKnot

Look at me....coming through like I promised with the deets
of our "BIG DAY".

Warning: It's a LONG post, well not so much long but
photo heavy because well I LOVE our photos.

I still am blown away by how our wedding was
LEGIT our DREAM day.
Dream venue, dream style, dream FOOD, dream size, dream DRESS AND SHOES.
It was literally one of the BEST. DAYS. OF. MY. LIFE.
(um, hello I'm a mom.....popping 2 kids out is pretty HIGH up there on life achievements and I'm thinking of keeping them because they are pretty damn awesome)

We knew when we started planning we wanted a SMALL, INTIMATE wedding with only those
nearest and dearest to us. Those who have supported us and love us. Those
with no judgment, no ulterior motives, no BS.
We weren't inviting so and so because we talk to them at the water cooler.
No Lucy from down the street who is an acquaintance.
No friends of our parents who knew us since we were "wee lads".
Everyone who was invited was there because we WANTED them there.

Covid helped keep the number down which honestly was a bit of a blessing because
I talk a "BIG" talk, but I hate confrontation. LOL
Covid made us keep it small and simple.
There were a few peeps who weren't able to make it due to the situation
and we missed them terribly but we know and understand they had good reason and it was out of their control. There were also people we would have LOVED to have invited, but again
Covid changed our guest count.
Anywhooooo if we offended anyone we didn't mean to.

First things FIRST - The VENUE

AZ Hops & Vines
This winery is our absolute FAV!!!
Not because it's fancy or all chic (not chick - pronounced sheek peeps, sheek).
Nope, we love it because it's simple, eclectic, funky and FUN.
Not stuffy, not snooty, not pretentious.

We also knew our style would go PERFECTLY with the already amazing atmosphere.
We started with our ceremony down in the vineyard.
The arbor was made with LOVE, Sweat, and tears by my amazing father in law.
I showed him my vision and he RAN with it and delivered
something more beautiful than I even imagined.
It was decorated by my aunt who is my heart and soul.
I walked down the aisle to one of our fav past students (Charlize) singing A Thousand Years.
She is AMAZING!
I will link her deets at the bottom in case you want to check her out on social.

All of the floral arrangements at the ceremony were made by my aunt and I.
I wasn't about spending thousands of dollars on flowers.
Simple is what we wanted.

As I mentioned in the Rehearsal post here we made the wine blends for our Wine Blending ceremony
with Hops & Vines the night before.
A few months before the wedding we purchased a pretty ROUGH looking wine barrel
that we wanted to turn into a table to use at the blending.
My love refinished it and thanks to our AMAZING friend who is a WOOD wizard, he gifted
us completing the barrel off as a GORGEOUS table.

Here is the before
(not much to look at...try to contain your jealousy) LOL

Here is it during the Wine Blending ceremony:
(Charlize also sang during the Wine Blending - Kiss Me)

I seriously can NOT get over the transformation!!!
It is now my FAVORITE piece in our house.
We have been utilizing it regularly. It has since been upgraded with adorable stools and it's been used
for a few different at home dates. 💕
The sign above the table was my SURPRISE to Estrada and the kids at the wedding.
I got it from Etsy and I'm in LOVE with how it turned out.

I know this piece was a beeeeooochhh to move so thank you to ALL
of the man power who moved it from spot to spot on the day of the wedding.

It became the Gift table after the ceremony.

Thank you to Gene and Shawna and know that we will forever cherish this piece.

After some cocktails in the vineyard it was time to get the party started up at the reception area.
We could NOT have done any of this without our family.
They were the decorating MAN POWER.

This arbor was in Estrada's family for YEARS....like some serious YEARS.
It had been used for numerous family weddings in the past.
His uncle refurbished it and gave it a fresh life so we could use it on our day.
So much LOVE by everyone.

Our family table was perfection.
Just the four of us. My surprise sign was placed right at the front of the table and
was NOT noticed until I pointed it out during our first dance!! LOL

Eating out under twinkles and stars was EVERYTHING I imagined and more.

This area was the cake and photo guest book area.
To the left was the vintage settee that also made MANY moves throughout the day.
Our guest book was polaroids with props to take a pic and leave us a message.

Our cake was gifted by the family of one of our absolute FAV students. She was
my TA at work and I still remember the day she gave me the little
card with the cake surprise after she found out we were engaged.
I just LOVE and adore her.

I can't WAIT to dig into that top layer.
The bottom two layers were yellow with lemon filling and the top is red velvet with
cream cheese filling.
It was BOMB!!!
Um, funny story. I got a SUPER cute cake topper from Etsy.
Do you like it?
Oh you don't see it?
It's because it never made it onto the cake and is still in the original
packaging it came in. 😂
Hey not everything goes PERFECTLY on the day of, but the BEST part....
we didn't even notice THAT day. We noticed it in pictures AFTERWARDS!!!
I'm totally throwing that baby on the top layer when we bring that beauty out. Stay tuned
for a picture of that!! I'm sure it will look GORG! ;)

Another Highlight - The CIGAR Bar

We knew from day one of planning that we wanted some type of "cigar bar".  We
just weren't sure how we wanted to do it. I kept looking at different
free standing type of tables we could use, but then on one of our MANY visits out
to the venue (hey we needed to keep trying the wine and look at the space 😉) I
saw the PERFECT area!
So perfect that it's already there and we were able to just decorate it and make the vision
come alive.

Let's not forget about everyone's TOP priority (besides Open Bar, LOL)
The FOOD

We were all about merging both cultures so since we did the Mexican food truck for rehearsal night
we went with Italian food for the wedding day. In keeping with our style we went the unconventional way and had the MOST kick ass food truck EVER!!!

Yep, our dinner consisted of:
Charcuterie
Pizza
AND
a Cannoli/Tiramisu Cart

I can't EVEN. The day that we went to taste Ciao Down's pizza was
LOVE at FIRST BITE.
We ALL loved our taste test day. Not to mention the owner and ALL of his guys
are MACHINES and super talented.
I have NOT one regret on our food choice.
Everyone got an individual pizza in their OWN personal box!
Soooo stinking cute!!!!
Pizza and cannolis is like a dream come true for this Italian girl.

Us on our taste test day.

Our charcuterie was seriously a work of art!

His pizza is AMAZING! Definitely follow him on social media and find out where
his truck is in Tucson. It will be WORTH your drive!!

Past all of those details I had my literal DREAM wedding. I married the love of my life.
I was by far the MOST relaxed bride. It may be because I'm older now and I know what is important.
I woke up that morning with the mentality that the day would be perfect even if the day
didn't go "PERFECTLY".
I had the mindset that I wasn't going to let anyone or anything ruin our day.
The day went perfectly and nope not everything was perfect.
The beginning part of the day was WINDY AF. (by the time the ceremony started it had subsided...phew)
Think on the level that my hair was a shit show for all of the pics of me by myself,
our first look and all our
family group pics.
I kept on smiling and just kept saying how I wasn't going to let it ruin our day
and we couldn't change anything.
The arbor fell down an HOUR before the ceremony from the wind.
Cocktail hour didn't go as planned.
The cake topper wasn't on the cake.
Not everyone knew about the polaroid pics for the guest book.
We never poured the case of champagne for the toast.
We never used all the champagne flutes we bought.
The cannoli lady left too early.
I took one too many shots of tequila.
I never hung out at the cigar bar.
I'm sure there is more but literally NONE of it matters.
In the end it was the PERFECT day to US and US is who matters.
We gave zero effs to what anyone thought about ANY of our choices and
we had a day to celebrate our love the way we wanted.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all our family and friends
for putting in the time, energy, strength, patience, and flat out HARD work.
We are forever grateful.
Thank you for helping fulfill our Happily Ever After.

A sample of the Windy AF situation

The Seasons of Life

 Hello loves!

Well yesterday I made an announcement on my social media that I am going
to take the plunge BACK into my photography.

As many of you know I have had a LOVE and PASSION for photography for
oh, ya know about 10 years...or maybe more like since I've come out of the womb and plastered photos of my friends and I ALL. OVER. THE. MIRROR. AND. DOOR. in my bedroom.
I was "that" friend who ALWAYS looked like a tourist on every school trip,
event or whatever.
You're welcome. I have evidence of all of our gawky stages! ;)

Hey don't judge...you all know how old I am!!! ;)
Anywhooooooo I have been soooo fortunate to have AMAZING clients from
Arizona and PA who have kept me busy for the last 10 years.

I have taken breaks here and there, in between the different cross country moves but I have always
come back to it because honestly it's my creative outlet.
It's funny how life is. Sometimes you aren't supported in things you are doing and
made to feel small and almost like you are imposing by carrying lugging that damn camera around.

Looking back I needed to be stronger and believe in myself more. I needed the courage to stand up for myself and for what interests me. Who the hell am I bothering by taking that camera
on day trips with us? No one, that's who. Who the freak cares who is "looking" at
me because I have a big camera out.

Ugh. I'm telling you if older me could tell younger me to give ZERO effs and
not let anyone make you feel less than what you are. I would sit that bitch down with a cocktail
and REALLY give her life lessons. Like girl WTF were you thinking?!
Get it together. Be independent. Be strong. Have a voice. etc. etc.
(this list could go on for miles!!)

Well that leads me back to finding ME again. Obviously I've been a work in progress
the last 2 years and I have come SUCH. A. LONG. WAY. but I still
have soooo much further to go.
Thankfully I have the amazing LOVE and SUPPORT of that hot hubby I just married 2 1/2 months ago. (oh and yes, the wedding day post will be coming!) LOL
Love, support, encouragement, belief...those make all the difference in the world.

I am diving back into a photography course I took back in the day just for a good re-fresher and
to get a girl's mind back in the right space. I want to do another Photo of the Day type of project.         It's all just igniting an excitement in me that's been missing
for a bit. I think I lacked soooo much self confidence and I was
so good at negative self talk that I truly believed I couldn't do it anymore.

So long story short. The seasons of life is what is bringing me back to photography.
I can't wait to see what happens when I get back out there and just start shooting.

If you want to schedule a shoot PLEASE leave me a comment on this post or find me on FB and Instagram!!! I would LOVE to capture some memories for you.

Here are some AMAZING seniors I got to work with last year. Seriously, I miss these kiddos!!

BEST TA EVER

That's all for now loves. Thank you to all of those who have
loved and supported me as well as my photography for all these years.
Let's make more memories together.

Spinach & Mushroom (or not) Breakfast Bake

 Happy Sunday loves!!!
I have been making this simple DELISH breakfast bake for about a year now
and the whole fam LOVES it.
You can definitely modify to your family's likes or dislikes
(gotta LOVE picky eaters)
I have used both a sweet potato and a regular potato in this recipe and both
are YUMMY! Same goes for the meat, just use whatever floats your boat, or for
me I tend to use whatever I have on hand at the time that I get the wild hair to whip this up. I've also made this with NO meat if I don't have any on hand but am still craving the bake.
The title of this is Spinach & Mushroom (or not) because again, I've made it without mushrooms and with. Anything GOES with this recipe.
I don't really have set "amounts" because I kinda just eyeball everything at this point, so
do what works for you. (you do you)
Give it a shot, let me know how you like it.

INGREDIENTS:

10 eggs
1 lb of whatever ground meat you prefer (I've used regular sausage, ground turkey, turkey sausage)
1 sweet potato OR 1 regular potato
handful of baby spinach
handful of baby bella sliced mushrooms (cut into smaller strips)
dried sage
dried crushed rosemary
salt
pepper
shredded Italian cheese

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. If you are adding the meat to this recipe, go ahead and brown the meat in a pan on the stove with some crushed rosemary & sage.

3. While the meat is browning, start slicing this pieces of the potato and laying them in the bottom of a greased 11 x 9 baking dish. (you want to cover the whole bottom with THIN potato slices)

4. Beat the eggs in a bowl with salt & pepper.

5. After the potato layer is done top it with the baby spinach and mushrooms if you are adding them as well.

6. When the ground meat is done cooking add it to the baking dish on top of your vegetable layer.

7. Sprinkle the meat layer with the shredded Italian cheese.

8. Finish off the dish by pouring the eggs over all the layers.

9. Pop the uncovered dish into the oven for about 25 - 30 minutes or until the top is a pretty golden brown.

Voila!! That's it loves!!
The other positive to this is I have leftover breakfast for a few days!!! BOOM! Time Saver...you are welcome!

Let's Catch Up....Rehearsal Time

 Seriously.....It's been way tooooooo LONG!!!

Since we last met up, you guessed it.....we got MARRIED!!
I swear life has been like a whirlwind since October and it just hasn't stopped since.
I'm not going to bore you with everything you missed from Sept until the wedding.
Let's just get to the good stuff!

October 19th all the way through to the end of October was by far my most memorable time EVER.
One of my brothers from Florida flew in for the wedding and I LEGIT have not laughed so much.
He definitely kicked off Wedding Week for us.

After my brother's arrival, the rest of the out of towners made their debut.
(ya know aunt, uncle, bestie)
These people were some of the most important life lines and VITAL to this grandiose event going off without a hitch.

Our wedding and rehearsal were WORK.
Absolutely STUNNING, absolutely PERFECT, but
WORK!

My brother's words 'I'm going back to Florida like I just did the Strong Man Competition'
No freaking KIDDING!
We were soooo lucky to have had our family and friends step in the way they did.
We are forever grateful and love all of you sooo much!

I'm just going to give you the Rehearsal Night recap on this post because it was the
start of a f**#%g FABULOUSLY fun weekend!

Obviously we started rehearsal at the venue.
(AZ Hops & Vines is where we got married)

We had some laughs, nailed our timing of walking and singing down.
(no, not me singing...are you peeps crazy?! One of our absolute favorite past students, turned family sang 2 songs for our ceremony)
She is AMAZING.
(follow her on social because girlfriend is definitely going places! I will link her deets at the end)

We didn't actually take any pics while we were "rehearsing",
however this little beauty was captured and still makes me LOL every. time. I. see. it.

Yes, that's my brother.
Yes, I adore him.
(He adored this pic as much as I did LOL)

After we perfected our walk, we headed next door for the most perfect rehearsal dinner under the stars, at the Meading Room.

That place is breathtaking. The property is perfection, the vibe is chill AF.
Our whole weekend was pretty "unique".
The one stand out really "unique" part was we concocted our own wine blend at our rehearsal dinner to be used for our wine blending ceremony the next day.
I'm still in awe.
It was seriously so special and so different.
Hops and Vines outdid themselves.
They met us over at the rehearsal dinner location.
Gave us all the "smarts" on each wine, all of our guests got to sample each one, and all the while we were sipping and mingling with each other, we were creating our special WINE!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!

After the blending of our wine it was time to get down to business and fill our bellies!
We did a Taco Truck!
That ish was freaking BOMB!!!
Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. So so good!!

Get in my BELLY....I can eat this ALL again, right now!

Such an absolutely beautiful evening. El fresco eating is my JAM!

Once dinner was FINITO, it was drinking, fire side sitting, and of course CORN HOLE in heels and dresses because seriously, did you EXPECT anything less from me!!!???

My son blew us away with his speech.
If anyone had any doubts about our relationship, all you need to do is listen to both of my kid's speeches to really grasp that we are the REAL DEAL.

But ya know, everyone has their opinion. ;)
We couldn't have asked for a more perfect night with those closest to us, to start Wedding Weekend off.
To quote one of my new brother in laws...."we are fucking BLESSED"!!! LOL

Here is the pic summary of the lovelies who helped make that night one of the best.

And there ya go....a beautiful night was had by all.
I highly recommend stepping out of the box for your rehearsal and wedding. It's LEGIT soooo much better when you don't give in to other people's opinions and NORMS.

I'll be back soon with the BIG Day post!
In the mean time I hope you all are staying healthy and safe and trying your best
to make some holiday memories this month in the new normal.

Have an AH-MAZING day!!!
